One Piece Live-action Netflix adaptation

The Uncanny Resemblance of Netflix’s Live-action “One Piece” versus Anime Manga series

The Resemblance of Netflix’s live-action adaptation “One Piece” inspired by Anime Manga is totally uncanny, and every character plays justice and owns it.

Do you know ONE PIECE’ is currently #1 in 84 countries on NETFLIX? Yes, it’s HUGE!

After the massive success of the live-depiction Barbie movie that made history in 2023, this live-action One-Piece adapted previously from the original anime manga series got the highest scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

The original One-piece anime series is Japan’s highest-watched manga series in 26 years. The first episode aired in 1999 and has around 1,070 episodes since. One Piece has a global fanbase, so it was essential for Netflix to break the curse, especially after the Duffer Brother’s new live-action Death Note and My Hero Academia.

Netflix finally broke its first curse by releasing the live-action series One Piece on 31 August 2023 on Netflix. It has a total number of 8 episodes..

Firstly, they released the live-action trailer on 18th June 2023, making the Japanese manga fans go wild. Gummy..Gummm..Pistol!

One Piece stood out the most because they carefully stuck to the original theme. The vision of Luffy’s journey, Captain Alvida, Roronoa Zoro’s back story, and the stubbornness of Oda himself resemble the original manga series. It was like a fresh breath full of failed attempts to adapt an anime series.

Now, fans want more of them. They want One-piece season 2 on Netflix so soon. Why must we wait an entire year before they break the news of the next season? I mean, Why??

What’s So Special about One Piece?

Let’s briefly discuss this live-action adaptation of an anime series that is bombing everywhere. It’s about the world of pirates and their chase of the hidden treasure in the middle of the sea,a.k.a One-piece. Whoever finds it first will become the “King of Pirates,” but everyone thinks of it as a myth.

There comes Monkey D. Luffy, a young and cheerful pirate who is made out of rubber (Spoiler Alert***). His body is super-stretchy, and he defeats many evil villains and saves his friends.

Although anime series have thousands of episodes, Netflix focuses on the main details and villains. His first mate was Roronoa Zoro (Iñaki Godoy), who he saved and became a part of his crew. Luffy always encourages you to follow your dreams no matter how risky they sound.

Next, who joined him, was Nami((Emily Rudd), an expert thief with hidden secrets under her sleeves. Every cast member was like they were born to play their roles. It was so hard to find any faults and errors. Netflix hit a score this time.

The Uncanny Resemblance of One Piece Live-action and Old Japanese Manga

It’s hard to sit still and not shout at the top of your lungs once you know the hottest and baddest cast with your eyes. Although the original manga couldn’t be replaced, Netflix’s One-Piece live adaptation tried its best.

Those physical fights and explosive sounds, the Gummy Gumm pistol attack of Luffy with stretchy hands is literally what we needed..It was more than what we anticipated.. Let’s take a look at the Netflix’s cast members and how they fully adapted the original look:

Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy

Netflix's One Piece Live-action adaptation
Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy

Luffy with his straw and his dream to become the king of the pirates. Eiichiro Oda’s vision comes to life when they cast Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy. The carefree and optimistic nature of Luffy resembles the original Japanese version. Iñaki Godoy seems like a perfect choice for Lufft in this live-action. He never stopped smiling, and he never gave up; he never discouraged any other.

Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro

One Piece live action Roronoa Zoro
Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro

Zoro looks hotter than the original manga series, and it’s unfair. It makes it harder to wait for another episode or even a season. Roronoa Zoro played a bounty hunter who became the first one to join Luffy’s crew to find One Piece. Zoror’s dream is to become the greatest swordsman in the world

Emily Rudd plays Nami

Emily Rudd, who plays Nami as the red hair and green bottled eye, is the expert navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates. After Zoro, she was the one who willingly joined Luffy to complete his dream. Her red hair and green eyes make her the most beautiful human in the entire series. Her dream is to make the biggest map in the world.

Taz Skylar Plays Sanji

The flirty Cook and great fighter Sanji played by Tez Skylar

Taz Skylar, who plays as Sanji is the flirty cook we all dreamed of getting. The uncanny resemblance between both is astonishing in One Piece live-action versus anime. His mouth-watering recipes make us drool. Unlike others, Sanji’s dream is to find All-Blue, a so-called chef’s paradise.

Jacob Romero Gibson plays Usopp

Every live series has a funny character, and it’s Usopp. He’s the goofiest and childish character in One Piece and gets scared quickly. He is an expert in slingshot and known as the expert sniper among his crew. Usopp’s dream is to become the vice-caption of the Straw Hat Pirates.

It seems like One-Piece finally broke the curse of releasing another bad anime-live action series. You can watch this live-action series on Netflix, and it’s still trending in 84 countries. Although, there is no official statement about season 2 yet.

In the end, we believe that Netflix is definitely coming up with another series. Don’t we all want to see Straw Hat Crew again?
