Madame Web Movie Review: The Trolling and Critics Are Brutal

Well, well, well, it’s time for cinephiles and sci-fi fans to lower their expectations because Madame Web movie has crashed onto screens of cinema like a star of disappointment. I am not the only one saying that; the tea has spilled all over the internet.

This time, Marvel promised an exciting glimpse into the mystical world of Madame Web. It is a famous character from the Spider-Man series starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney. However, what is unfolding on screen is not less than a brutal disappointment. With the release date set for Valentine’s Day, the Madame Web movie turned out to be a bitter pill rather than a sweet cinematic romance.

In the era when superhero movies are supposed to kick the box office hard, thriller and sci-fi lovers expected Madama Web to be a breath of fresh air. But, honey, the reality is a bit bitter and the movie is a bit of a mess.

That is because the story is half-cooked, the dialogues are boring, and the acting isn’t very impressive. Critics and trolls wasted no time in tearing this movie apart, labeling it to be a “head-scratcher,” and “embarrassing mess”. But hey, don’t believe my words. Let’s dive into Madame Web review and check out what the audience is saying.

Let’s talk about the Madame Web movie story before anything. The journey begins with a throwback moment of Cassandra’s (Madame Web) mother, Constance. Her mother is exploring the depths of the Amazon jungle in search of spiders with amazing powers. Constance’s exploration becomes risky when she meets  Ezekiel Sims, a guy with a shady past.

Now, here comes the twist and Cassie’s journey takes an unexpected turn. Time travels to 2003, where Cassie, struggles with her uncertain future and traumatic past. She travels through a dangerous and deceitful world where every route takes her to the new threat, all with her one and only friend, Ben by her side.

Amidst all the confusion, Cassie finds a hidden strength within herself, a strength that changes the path of her destiny forever. Motivated by her thirst for knowledge, Cassie embarks on a journey of self-discovery that leads her straight into the spider’s web.

Mind that this is a simplified version of the story. Critics found the actual movie confusing, leaving them scratching their heads.

But darling, before blaming anyone for the embarrassing mess, let’s also walk through the star-studded cast of Madame Web 2024. The movie’s lead is Dakota Johnson (Madame Web), taking to the stage with her passion and charm. Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced, played the three young ladies entangled in Cassie Webb’s web of destiny.

Additionally, Tahar Rahim’s evil portrayal of Ezekiel Sims fails to instill fear in the hearts of viewers, despite his intimidating appearance. Similarly, while playing various parts to round out the cast, Adam Scott, Mike Epps, and Emma Roberts cannot save Madame Web’s ship from sinking.

And, and, and, here’s the part you all have been waiting for, Madame Web movie reviews and ratings! Prepare yourself for the rollercoaster ride through the critical comments made for Madame Web film. YouTube sensation Cris Parker labeled the film as an “embarrassing mess,” calling it the worst comic book adaptation ever seen. He criticized its terrible dialogues, awkward editing, and laughable structure. Meanwhile, The Hollywood Handle paints a grim picture, describing the movie as “clunky, messy, and sloppy”.

Even seasoned critic @bookblerd couldn’t resist tweeting. He explicitly said that the movie is a series of “wasted potential.”

Not to mention the harsh criticism published in the Chicago Tribune and Vanity Fair. They compared dismal portrayals of Cassie’s role to a waterlogged waiting room. Further added that the unimpressive acting leaves a lot to be desired.

Well, after all of this drama after its release on the 14th of Feb, the Madame Web IMDB rating of 3.6/10 makes complete sense. It is visible that the thrill the production house tried to create left the viewers more entangled than entertained.
